The Power of Compassion: Okanagan Humane Society

The Okanagan Humane Society (OHS) is a local nonprofit animal rescue charity with over 200 active volunteers.

OHS rescues, fosters, and coordinates adoptions for hundreds of animals each year.

The organization provides a safety net for animals in crisis, 365 days a year.

OHS collaborates with over 40 veterinary partners throughout the Okanagan Valley.

Over 3/4 of OHS volunteers are on the front lines, rescuing and fostering animals.

In 2024, OHS assisted over 4,150 animals in distress, a record-breaking year.

OHS volunteers, like Romany Runnalls, give their time, talents, and even their own money to the cause.

Romany Runnalls, OHS Board President, volunteers over 30 hours a week and has done so for over a decade.

Despite having a full-time job and family, OHS volunteers answer calls for help day and night.

You can make a difference with OHS by fostering, volunteering, or donating – visit www.okanaganhumanesociety.com to get involved.
